I love Christmas. In fact, I love it so much that it makes me love the entire month of December and all the insanity that goes in to it. I love Christmas lights and decorations, candles, our tree, shopping for presents, baking special cookies, and now the excitement that goes with Harry’s appreciation of the season. I love the kindness that comes out of people motivated by the season. I especially love having family come in and visit, most importantly my sister!
While she is here I try to suck out every second of her visit, and I probably smother her in the process! She lives in NOLA and, as you all know, I miss her dearly. We really enjoyed her nice long visit this year. We went in to NYC to see Fun Home, which was out of this world. It’s now our tradition to see a show and I look forward to it every year. We also tried to do the Hamilton lottery but did not win! Fun Home blew my mind and moved me in incredible ways. We also got to meet Michael Cerveris afterward, which was really amazing! His voice is just incredible – as is the rest of the cast. Go and see it right now!
Seeing family is just wonderful, and it sucks me out of the real world and into this fun place where we can eat and drink a lot and just hang. Problems are forgotten, worries melt away, and I live in this happy Christmas world where everyone is together. It’s lovely and I look forward to it every year.
Harry man got everything he asked for, specifically the “Hex” (Hess) truck that he asked me for every single day leading up to Christmas. Pop-pop got him one last year, and it’s become their thing. Harry loves those trucks! Mimi got him some cool stuff, particularly a Christmas train set that we had to immediately set up. It was a great day.
We all got some great gifts, but more importantly we spent time together. For me, there’s nothing better than pajamas and family!
Now we are getting back to reality. Auntie Sheesh (my sister) has gone home, everyone is back to their regular routine (almost), and we are getting ready to ring in the New Year. I’m back in to a work out routine, although I haven’t run much outside lately due to the wonky weather. I need to get out there though. My sister got me this awesome running scarf from Lululemon that I can’t wait to try out. It’s so soft! I have a bunch of half marathons in the spring (3, to be exact) that I am actually looking forward to. I’ve grown to really like that distance – it’s challenging but not grueling or hard on your body. A lot of my friends have marathons in a week or two, most in Disney! I’ll be cheering from here!
I hope you all had an amazing holiday, whatever you celebrate, with your families and loved ones. Here’s to a great New Year!
