Greetings from the mitten! This week we are vacationing in the beautiful state of Michigan, where my husband is from and where all of this family and many of his friends live. We were able to visit in March when it was still very cold so there wasn’t much we could do. No worries though, because we were able to spend a ton of good quality time. I promised we would visit again before school started to here we are!
Part one of our journey takes us further west in the state to see Josh’s family. We spent a lot of time with his mom and family, and Harry was so happy to see everyone, especially Grandma and Uncle Ben! Ben has the best toys! We got some nice home cooked meals, and we treated ourselves out a little. We spent an entire day visiting the town of Frankenmuth, which is quaint and beautiful. It’s full of old shops like the Cheese Haus and the Bavarian Inn, where we hand rolled some pretzels. I also bought and ate a lot of fudge, which makes me very happy.
The next day I set out for a morning run – my longest ever of 15 miles – which I’ll tell you more about tomorrow because it really deserves its own ridiculous post. After the run we went to see Harry’s Great Grandma and has a nice lunch with some more family. A nice long nap was in order for Harry and his tired mama, so we retired for a while and woke up refreshed and ready to conquer some adventures. Grandma took us down to Lake Huron, which was absolutely beautiful. We’re in a bit of a cool spell during this visit, so no swimming. It’s been in the 60s the entire time we’ve been here! We were able to walk along the beach and enjoy the scenery though. It was really nice!
It’s so nice to come out to Michigan and do a little bit of everything. Obviously we want to spend the most time with family, and there never seems to be enough time, but we make it work. Until next time! Off to the next adventure!
